FOUNDATION'S MISSION

The FOUNDATION FOR DEMOCRATIC AND GOVERNMENTAL STUDIES was established to educate the public to the ways the U.S. Government, all branches included, have become distanced from the people. Our objective lies in identifying the causes for this 'distancing', studying what rectifications can be made, and telling the people what we discover; thereby bringing about a government more receptive to he will of the people.

Examples of this 'DISTANCING'
  • The SEAT OF GOVERNMENT, originally in the middle of the states, has remained in the same location for 200 years while our nation has grown 3000 miles to the West.
  • Congressional constituencies are so large that the common people do not have access to their elected representatives to congress. CORPORATE AMERICA DOES HAVE ACCESS TO GOVERNMENT.
  • Corporate America, by the use of million dollar lobbyist, has basically usurped the ear of congress away from 'WE THE PEOPLE'.
  • Legislative gerrymandering has made congress virtually invulnerable and immune to constructive changes.

SO-we intend to focus, one by one on these areas. MovDC.org has been developed to focus attention on the first of these areas. MovDC hopes to use this website and other tools to bring the inequity of the present location of the SEAT OF GOVERNMENT to the attention of the PEOPLE.

VISION

In a nation whose government seems to be ever more isolated from the people and distant from the Heartbeat of America, MOVDC seeks by physical measures and constructive changes to challenge the boundaries that exist between the people and our government.

To that end we...

  • believe that great inequity has been perpetrated on the American people by the Seat of the Government being in Washington D. C. rather than in the demographic or geographic center of the nation.
  • wish to foster a higher degree of communication between the people and their government by improving the peoples access to their government.
  • believe that the character of a congress that has become a career body can, as a result of being in the middle of America, and being nearer to the people, actually become closer to, and more receptive to the will of the people.
  • want to hear from you, the people, your thoughts about what other orderly changes can be made to our government to foster a better relationship between the people and government

"If the laws are to be trampled upon with impunity, and a minority (a small one too) is to dictate to the majority, there is an end put, at one stroke, to republican government."

George Washington
